Visit the SmartBiz Answer Booth at the GrowSmartBiz Conference!

Join us at the GrowSmartBiz Conference on Tuesday, Septmber 29th in Washington DC. This educational and networking conference for small businesses hosted by Network Solutions is featuring the SmartBiz Answer Booth.

We will have the following Answer Booth experts to provide free feedback on general questions related to public relations, social media, legal matters, and technology:

  • Shonali Burke, Shonali Burke Consulting – Shonali Burke is principal of Shonali Burke Consulting, an “agency of one” based in the Washington, D.C., metro area.   • Pamela O’Hara, President, BatchBlue Software
  • Steve Fisher, Appsolve. Steve is currently is Managing Partner of AppSolve. In its 10th year, Appsolve specializes in user experience design, enterprise web development and online community management. Through AppSolve, he works with Network Solutions to manage its online small business community. Prior to that he was founder and CEO of Slipstream Air, a software provider to the private air travel industry. It was sold in 2008 to JIT Airline Resources, which rebranded as Slipstream Aviation Software. Steve has also held key leadership positions at Global Network Solutions, OnSite Technologies, IKON, USConnect, Ryland and Wells Fargo. He has published several e-books on Small Business Management, User Experience, Online Marketing and Innovation. Currently, he is working on his first book, “101 Rules for Entrepreneurs” slated for a Spring 2010 release.
  • Miguel Ramos, Network Solutions -Miguel Ramos is the Product Manager, Hosting Products at Network Solutions. He is responsible for setting the strategy for the Shared Hosting, VPS and Email products at Network Solutions, one of the world’s pioneering Internet companies. A 10 year veteran of the company, he previously lead the engineering team that built the Network Solutions Hosting platform.
  • Brian Winterfeldt, Steptoe & Johnson LLP - Brian J. Winterfeldt is a partner in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where his practice involves most aspects of intellectual property law, including domestic and international trademark counseling, clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and litigation, as well as trade dress and domain name issues.
  • Mayra Ruiz McPherson, Ruiz-McPherson Communications - Mayra Ruiz-McPherson is a regular guest contributor to Women Grow Business. Mayra works as an independent marketing strategist and social media enthusiast. With over 14 years of marketing and communications experience, Mayra helps businesses and non-profits with all aspects of their brand identity, outreach communications, and competitive positioning. She produces the blog Marketing Misfit and can be reached at www.twitter.com/marketingMisfit.
  • Jill Foster, WomenGrowBusiness – Jill Foster teaches social media and public presentation training in the Washington, DC area. And she’s a blogger pro as editor of www.WomenGrowBusiness.com; she also offers live blogging services, content creation, and regularly contributes to Network Solutions’ blogger team.
  • Raj Malik, Network Solutions – During his career as an Assistant Attorney General, a Senior Associate at White & Case LLP and now at Network Solutions, LLC, Raj has worked with and provided legal guidance to a wide range of companies including start-ups, fast growing technology companies and Fortune 100 companies across a range of industries. Raj also has the high distinction of being quite likely the youngest Wal-Mart Greeter in history during the summer after graduating from Miami University and just before attending The Ohio State University College of Law. He was also once a Sandwich Engineer at Subway. Raj spends his days time dreaming of a day when a Cleveland sports franchise will win a major sports championship and hopes this will be the year for the Cleveland Browns to finally make it to the Super Bowl. Somehow Raj’s wife is from Pittsburgh and is a Steelers fan.In Raj’s role at Network Solutions, LLC, he provides legal and non-legal guidance on a range of issues including marketing, social media, technical, product development, customer service, operations and business development along with legal compliance, state, federal and international litigation and risk mitigation.
  • Sharon Alavi, Network Solutions – Sharon Alavi is Corporate Counsel at Network Solutions where she addresses and advises on a broad range of legal matters. Previously she worked as an associate at White & Case LLP where her practice focused on mergers & acquisitions and antitrust litigation.
  • Michael Dougherty, Chesapeake Bay Foundation – Mike Dougherty is the Emerging Media Manager for Chesapeake Bay Foundation as well as a regular blogger for GrowSmartBusiness. By day, Mike works to find ways to promote a clean and healthy Chesapeake Bay through the web and social media. By night he blogs about marketing, design, and social media with an eye on the small business way of life. In addition to all this, Mike, and fellow GrowSmartBusiness editor Steven Fisher, work on a film for charity called Browncoats: Redemption.   • Robin Ferrier, Johns Hopkins Montgomery County and Capital Communicators Group -Robin Ferrier is the Communications Manager for Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County. As the Communications Manager, she oversees media relations, community outreach, marketing, publications, and special events, and manages the Campus’ web presence, including the web site and its presence in the social media realm. Robin also engages in limited legislative affairs activities and works on partnership development and business development efforts for the Campus.Robin is the President of the Capital Communicators Group, an organization of more than 1,000 public relations, public affairs, and communications professionals in the D.C. metro area. She is also co-chair of the Tech Council of Maryland’s Marketing Committee, a Leadership Montgomery graduate, and one of the founders of the socStardom series of social media events. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Robin worked in Corporate Communications for Choice Hotels and also handled public relations and marketing for a national non-profit scientific organization, a small public relations firm, and a literary agency.
